‘CC PewD!’ Memo Ochoa revives World Cup form, saves Lewandowski’s penalty

Mexican goalkeeper Memo Ochoa has proven once again that he can perform on the international stage.

Mexico needed Ochoa to make a save after a VAR check awarded Poland a penalty. Robert Lewandowski stepped up to the spot but Ochoa picked the right wing to preserve a 0-0 tie in the 58th minute.

The 37-year-old – who has had a torrid European career and has mainly stayed for his Mexican club, America – is one of four Qatari players to play at a fifth World Cup. He is also friends with his countryman Andres Garrado, Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
