Cincinnati wins first MLS playoff game behind Vazquez’s go-ahead goal

HARRISON, NJ (AP) –Brendan Vazquez scored in the 86th minuteFifth-seeded Cincinnati beat the fourth-seeded New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Saturday for its first playoff win in franchise history.

Cincinnati, making the club’s first appearance in the MLS playoffs, advanced to play top-seeded Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

New York scored in the 48th minuteLewis Morgan tackled an attempted clearance and sent a shot from outside the 18-yard box past the diving Roman Cilento.. Cincinnati looked to tie it at 1-all in the 61st but the official review ruled that Geoff Cameron was in an offside position when he deflected Junior Mourinho’s shot from distance.

Luciano Acosta scored on a penalty kick for CincinnatiIn the 74th, Carlos Miguel sent Coronel the wrong way.
