Ligue 1 round: Rennes up to third in France after defeat by Laurent Nice

PARIS (AP) — Rennes moved to third in the French league with a 3-0 win over Montpellier on Sunday and benefited from a 2-1 loss to Lorient at home to Nice.

Martin Terreur and Arnaud Klemoindo scored first-half goals for Rennes and Amin Guerreri added the third in the 85th minute. Rennes and fourth-placed Lorient each have 27 points, eight points behind Paris Saint-Germain at the top.

Gaitan Laborde scored the winner for Nice as Laurent missed the chance to move level on points with second-placed Lens.

Lyon beat Lille 1-0 with a goal from Alexandre Lacazette, and Monaco beat the English 2-0 thanks to goals from Brielle Embolo and Alexandre Golovin.

Also on Sunday, Auxerre secured a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Ajax. Nantes and Clermont draw 1-1; And Brest and Reims finished 0-0.

On Saturday, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe all scored as PSG beat Troyes 4-3.

PSG are five points ahead of Lens.
