PARIS (AP) — Laurent missed a chance to go top of the French league after being held to a 0-0 draw at home to 10th-placed Reims on Saturday.
The Brittany side will look to extend their excellent run at leaders Paris Saint-Germain to a seventh straight win but could not find a breach in Reims’ strong defence.
The Rams finished with just nine players after Emmanuel Agbado received a straight red card in added time for a scare on Dango Ouattara. The visitors were down to 10 at the start of the second half.
PSG and Lorient are level on points. PSG host third-placed Marseille on Sunday, with just three points separating their fierce rivals.
Rams, who sacked coach Oscar Garcia this week, sit one point above the relegation zone.
Laurent is off to his best start in the league. After 11 games, Regis LeBrace’s side have already won as many matches as last season – eight – when Lorient escaped relegation with a game to spare.

Reims was immediately under pressure and exposed himself every time Ouattara rushed down the right flank.
Ouattara and Moffi combined for Laurent’s first chance before Ouattara headed over the bar from Enzo Le Fe’s free-kick in the 15th minute. The hosts went close to opening the scoring soon after as a result of a fine move of one-touch football, and Ouattara was saved by goalkeeper Yvan Diouf.
Moffi didn’t last long after spraining his ankle early in the game. He tried to strengthen but was replaced in the 25th minute by Ibrahima Kony, whose name was chanted by Laurent fans, looking upset.
Reims enjoyed a good spell after Moffi’s injury and had a good chance through Marshall Munetsi, whose effort went wide inside the box in the 26th.
The Rams were reduced to 10 men just after the break when Dion Lupi received a second yellow card for a foul on Ouattara.
Lens later hosted Montpellier.
