LYON, France (AP) — Lyon fired coach Peter Bosz on Sunday after his team earned just one point in its last five French league games.
Laurent Blanc will replace Bosse, the club said.
Blanc led Bordeaux to the league title in 2009 before guiding Paris Saint-Germain to three straight league titles from 2014 to 2016.
The firing comes at a sensitive time as Lyon president Jean-Michel Olles talks about selling the club to Eagle Football Holdings LLC, controlled by American businessman John Techster.
The deal was scheduled to be finalized on September 30 but was postponed to October 21 as the two sides were still negotiating financial details, particularly the partial repayment of the debt owed to the club’s creditors.
Lyon drew 1-1 with Toulouse on Friday to snap a four-match losing streak, its worst run in the league since 1991. Bosses was booed by fans when the stadium announcer read his name before kick-off.
Lyon were in seventh place before Sunday’s game, eight points outside the top three places.
