PARIS (AP) – Lionel Messi Returned to training with Paris Saint-Germain as expected on Thursday after resting the French club’s previous league game due to a strained Achilles tendon.
The Argentine forward will feature in PSG’s home game against Auxerre on Sunday. This is Messi’s last game before rejoining his Argentina team in Qatar for the World Cup.
Argentina open their World Cup campaign in Group C against Saudi Arabia on November 22 before facing Mexico and Poland. 35-year-old Messi set a national record by scoring 90 goals for Argentina.
He has been in strong form for PSG this season, scoring seven league goals to go along with a league-high 10 assists. The record seven-time Ballon d’Or winner also has four goals and four assists in the Champions League.
PSG central defender Presnel Kempe also resumed training on Thursday after shaking off a minor Achilles tendon problem. He was included in France’s World Cup squad on Wednesday.
