PARIS — Paris Saint-Germain player Khaira Hamrawi released photos of her injuries from the brutal attack that left her career in fear, saying on Saturday that she was still haunted “night and day” and That was followed by horrendous abuse online.
Hamrawi was attacked last November with her former PSG teammate Aminata Diallo and other teammates after an evening out. Hamrawi was hit several times with a metal bar and her arms and legs were amputated.
Hamrawi wrote on Twitter: “I will never forget that night of November 4, 2021. It haunts me day and night. That dark night has changed my personal and professional life, my life as a woman and a football player. Changed lives.” “That tragic night when I thought I was going to die when two hooded men forced me to get out of the car. They shot me with iron bullets, mainly targeting my lower body. “
The 32-year-old midfielder, who has played 39 times for France, posted pictures of the injury: a horrific gash on the back of her right thigh and deep bruises around her left thigh and knee.
“Their goal that night was simple: to use my tools to violently break my legs and end my career,” Hamrawi continued, adding that the vicious verbal abuse began. And it left him in a state of constant worry.
“For a long time after the attack, I was unfairly insulted on (soccer) fields, harassed on social networks and had my life threatened. However, I did my best. Forced to continue my passion (football) and stay professional,” she said. “Today I trust the justice system to bring out the truth and protect my dignity.”
French justice officials said on Friday that Diallo had been charged with “aggravated violence” and was being held in custody in connection with the attack. This is the second time Diallo has been arrested as part of an investigation into the attack on Hamrawi last year. Diallo was detained in November and released without charge.
Diallo was questioned by police after four men were arrested in connection with the attack this week.
Diallo was arrested on Friday morning and accused by a fourth group of organizing an attack on a teammate to take his place in the PSG team, the Versailles prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Diallo has been without a club since her contract with PSG expired at the end of last season.
