LONDON – Argentina defender Cristian Romero has signed a permanent deal to stay with Tottenham until 2027, the English Premier League club said on Tuesday.
Romero joined on a season-long loan from Italian side Atalanta last August and has established himself as a key member of Tottenham’s defense as well as a popular player among the London club’s fan base.
Romero, 24, who started his career with Argentinian side Atlético de Belgaro and has played 11 times for his country, joins Atalanta from Juventus in 2021.
Also, Chelsea have sent winger Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan to German club Bayer Leverkusen for the rest of the season.
Leverkusen finished third in the Bundesliga last season and are playing in the Champions League this season in the same group as Atletico Madrid, Bruges and Porto.
