MUNICH, Germany (AP) – Marquee signing Sadio Mane maintained his impressive scoring form as Bayern Munich cruised to an easy 5-0 victory over third-tier Viktoria Koln in the German Cup on Wednesday.
Mane joined Bayern in a high-profile off-season move from Champions League second-tier Liverpool and the Senegal forward made it five goals in six games when he made it 3-0 early in the second half.
Dutch midfielder Ryan Greenbruch scored the first goal of his career for Bayern in the 35th minute to give the 20-time cup winner a record. He then set up 17-year-old forward Mathis Tell – another new signing – in first-half injury time.
Bayern’s next goal came from 19-year-old forward Jamal Mosela – his fifth in as many games – before the silky midfielder Leon Goretzka finished after Mane had set him up.
On Tuesday, former Chelsea forward Timo Werner scored a first-half hat-trick as Leipzig opened their cup defense with an 8-0 thrashing of rookie Tetonia Ottensen.
