Serie A round: Osimian and 'Cuara' keep Napoli unbeaten

Serie A round: Osimian and ‘Cuara’ keep Napoli unbeaten

ROME (AP) — To the shame of many soccer fans, Victor Osimian and Khycha Kvartsakhelia will not be at the World Cup in Qatar.

Napoli’s forwards are two of the most exciting players in Europe this season.

When he’s healthy — which isn’t often — Osimian is as big a goal-scoring threat as almost anyone. Meanwhile, Quaratsakhelia is a dribbling wizard who can score goals, score himself and generally put the crowd on the edge of their seats every time he touches the ball.

Osimian scored a hat-trick and Koyartsakhelia scored one and set up two as Serie A leaders Napoli beat Sassuolo 4-0 to extend their club record 13th straight win in all competitions.

“I just want to keep moving and help my team,” Osimian said. “This season the coach (Luciano Spalletti) has given me as much confidence as I can get.”

Osimene dedicated all his goals to his daughter.

“Every time I score I think about her,” Osimen said. “He’s my life now.”

Osimen and Kwartsakhelia will not be at the World Cup in three weeks time as both Osimen’s Nigeria and Kwartsakhelia’s Georgia failed to qualify.

Nigeria is missing out on its first World Cup since 2006, while Georgia, which only began playing independently after the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1990, has never reached football’s biggest competition.

That’s good for Napoli, though, who will get some extra rest for their two leading players during the World Cup.

Along with superstar-laden Paris Saint-Germain and 14-time European champions Real Madrid, Napoli were the only club in Europe’s five major leagues to remain unbeaten.

Napoli’s latest win came on a day when the team celebrated the birthday of club legend Diego Maradona, who would have turned 62 on Sunday. Maradona, who died in 2020, led Napoli to just two Serie A titles in 1987 and 1990.

Another title finally seems within reach for the southern club.

Napoli extended their lead to six points ahead of defending champions AC Milan, who visit Torino on Sunday.

Osimian opened the scoring at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona in the fourth minute, using two touches to return a cross that was headed to the far post by Quartsakhelia.

An hour and a half later, Osimian and Quartsakhelia were at it again, when “Kwara” played a quick pass back from the end line straight to Osimian, who fired it from the edge of the six-yard box in a move that It was the same. Billiards

Kvaratskhelia took matters into his own hands for Napoli’s third, producing acrobatic control of the ball above Mario Ravi before unleashing an immediate shot.

After a couple of key saves from Napoli goalkeeper Alex Mert, Osimian added another score after the break to finish off the counter-attack by charging past goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.

Osimian – who missed five weeks of the season through injury – has seven goals in eight games to move level with Bologna’s Marko Arnautovic at the top of the Serie A chart.

Next up is a trip to Liverpool on Tuesday, when Napoli will try to complete the Champions League group stage after winning their first five games in emphatic fashion – including a 4-1 home win over Liverpool. success
