Toronto FC defender Domenico Crescito has announced his retirement from professional soccer.
Cristo, 35, joined the Major League Soccer club on June 29, a roster of Italian talent that included forwards Lorenzo Ingen and Federico Bernardeschi.
Criscito made 16 appearances in all competitions.
He was named to the MLS Team of the Week following a 2–2 draw with Toronto against New England on August 17.
The goal was nominated for the 2022 MLS Goal of the Year.
Cressito’s announcement brings to an end a 19-year career that saw him play in the top divisions of Italy and Russia and make 26 appearances for the Italian national team.
“Many thanks to Toronto FC for these six beautiful months,” Christo said in a statement. “My family and I enjoyed our time in this wonderful city, and we felt part of this big family from day one.
“It’s time for me to go home and evaluate what I’m going to do with my future. Thank you and everyone.
