LONDON – Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was criticized by the English Football Association on Monday after he said he would prefer not to have a special referee officiate the team’s games.
After a 2–2 draw with Tottenham on 14 August, Tuchel said “maybe it would be better” if Anthony Taylor did not referee Chelsea games again.
The FA has concluded an investigation into Tuchel’s comments which accused him of misconduct through bias, questioning the referee’s integrity or bringing the game into disrepute.
He has until Thursday to respond.
Tuchel already faces a £35,000 (US$41,000) fine and a one-match touchline ban for his post-match altercation with Tottenham manager Antonio Conte that saw two coaches clash in west London. had sent
