World Cup Live Blog: Canadians start first World Cup game in 36 years

The wait is over, Canada.

After a historic run through qualifying, the Canadian men’s soccer team returned to the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

Canada opens the 2022 tournament in Qatar against Group F rivals Belgium, the world’s No. 2 team equipped with midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne and captain Eden Hazard.
